ST adapter (simplex). The adapter body is made of metal. The adapter is attached to the patch panel with a nut.

Optical adapters (sockets) are designed to connect or connect connectors installed on optical connecting and mounting cords. They are used in patch panels of optical crossovers, active equipment and measuring instruments. Adapters of types FC, SC, ST, LC are always pass-through (i.e. connectors are connected to them from both sides) and are also used for precise centering of the connector tips. The tips are centered in special sleeves.
